Short Description

Essential Functions:

  • Supervising all shift activities relative to clinical practice and personnel
  • Active participation in departmental quality assurance program
  • Blood gas analyzer quality control/ Nitric analyzer calibration
  • Assist with staff continuing educational and multidisciplinary clinical activities
  • Secondary responsibility is routine care
  • Responsible to organize staff work schedules clinical rotations, and employee performance evaluations
  • Administrative On Call duties
  • Responsible for special care nursery duties



     Marginal Functions: 

  • Patient assessment-palpation, percussion, auscultation, visual exam and charting
  • Patient transfer-lifting, assist with ambulation, positioning in bed, & stretcher
  • Patient transport-bed stretcher, assist with ambulation
  • Medication distribution mixing of solutions, exposure to various biological/chemical agents during med
  • Preparation and distribution
  • Set-up and maintenance of various equipment for patient use, i.e.: mechanical ventilators, pulse-oximeters, c02 end-tidal monitors, oxygen tents, BIPAP/CPAP devices, aerosol and oxygen set-ups, air compressors, blenders, Vapotherm, Nitric Therapy and Resuscitators
  • Use of computer keyboards, telephone messages and statistics.




Special Requirements

Scheduled Days / Hours: Monday - Friday, including a rotational weekend and holiday schedule - as needed.


Education: AS/BS Degree, Graduate of an AMA Approved Respiratory Care Program. Bachelor degree preferred.

License/Certifications/Registration: Current New Jersey State Respiratory Care Board License, valid BLS/NRP. Maintain required proficiencies (skills fair, BLS, NALS, and NJ State Licensure).

Experience: Five years of critical care experience with all age groups and three years of management experience in the respiratory and clinical environment.
