The Infection Preventionist (IP) assists with day to-day supervision of the Infection Prevention department and program.
The selected candidate will have significant prior experience in both infection prevention/control and a related field (e.g. nursing, microbiology, epidemiology).
The IP should have a significant knowledge and experience with education as it relates to infectious diseases, regulatory needs, and prevention of spread of disease.
This position demonstrates competence in sterilization and high level disinfection procedures and works closely with the Admin Director/Hospital Epidemiologist/Infection Prevention Committee to assist with the development of all infection prevention activities.
The Infection Preventionist reports to the Administrative Director of IP department.
BSN, BSMT, MPH or medical affiliated degree as appropriate
2 years in an acute care hospital and One year in Infection Prevention
Certified in Infection Control & Prevention (CIC) preferred; must obtain within 1 year of employment
Functions well as a team member within the IP department as well as an expert resource to all other entities that the department serves.
