Short Description




The Outreach Worker(s) for the CCCSP will be a high school graduate whose focus will be to provide cancer outreach, education and navigation in the Camden County and adjacent communities.  She must have access to transportation and have a State of New Jersey Motor Vehicle license.  Heavy lifting and toting of outreach and educational materials is required.  Evening and weekend hours will be required.  The Outreach Worker will report to the Project Coordinator.


The following are the responsibilities of the Outreach Worker:

  • Work with the outreach program team to develop new outreach and educational activities to reach the target community.
  • Contact patients who are interested in participating in the screening program with return phone calls made within 48 hours.
  • Set-up appointments for patients for their screening studies.
  • Maintain the clinic schedules for the advanced practice nurses.
  • Assist the nurses for the program by serving as a liaison for patients in the screening clinics in Camden and Voorhees.  Help patients fill out needed forms and consent them to participate in the program.  Translate for the patients as necessary.
  • Promote the CCCSP in the community and make entryway into the community through collaborations with community agencies, community leaders and other venues.
  • Identify and recruit appropriate clients in the target population for cancer screening and education services.
  • Provide one-on-one patient navigation for screening and diagnostic services.
  • Collaborate with new venues and tools designed to reach the target population.
  • Participate in educational programs, health fairs and other outreach activities attended by the target population.
  • Attend community meetings that promote the CCCSP.
  • Participate in continuing education programs as required.
  • Educate the community about cancer awareness, risk reduction and screening recommendations.
  • Attend and participate in CCCSP coalition and other meetings.
  • Maintain and provide statistics, logs and data on persons screened and educated.
  • Keep abreast of new changes in techniques, policies and other standards that affect work performance and duties.
  • Order and maintain supplies for the program.
  • Provide reception support for the main office including answering the phones and responding to the doorbell.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Special Requirements

Scheduled Days / Hours: varies with some evenings/we


Completion of Medical Assistant training program; some college courses preferred


At least 2 years as medical assistant in family practice.


Home visiting experience preferred

Required License/Certifications/ Registration:

NJ certification as medical assistant .


Bilingual  (Spanish)


First Aid certification up to date (including pediatric)

Other Qualifications:

Verifiable good driving record and reliable transportation with valid insurance.


Background check and fingerprinting.


Strong interest in family and pediatric healthcare.
