  • Short Description

    ENGINEERING

    • Create and maintain hardware standards and enterprise images for desktop environment.

     

    • Gather functional requirements from user community and IT to address common desktop problems.

     

    • Develop, Create, Maintain and test software packages for primary applications.

     

    • Perform large scale targeted distributions of software.

     

    • Write and troubleshoot complex scripts for automating desktop deployment.

     

    • Utilize configuration management and release management processes.

     

    • Contribute to migration architecture and planning for desktop environment.

     

    • Document technical environments, processes and procedures.

     

    • Develop and maintain all necessary engineering documentation for both proposed and as built designs.

     

    • Manage and support SCCM and SCOM environment for the desktop.

     

    • Streamline support of distributed desktop environment.

     

    • Design and Test new Single Sign on Profiles.

     

    • Recommend, tools, process or enhancements to better support the desktop.



    OPERATIONS

    • Provide escalation support for all desktop related issues and backfill desktop support when necessary.

     

    • Deploy Software Packages, Security Patches, and Anti-Virus Updates to Desktop Environment.

     

    • Act as a liaison between the Desktop Support Team and the Server, Applications and, Security Teams.

     

    • Support Single-Sign on infrastructure and troubleshoot SSO issues.

     

    Participate in Desktop / Applications Support On-Call Rotation.

     

     

    Required

    Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSA) or

    Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Tech (MCDST) or

    Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) [Enterprise Desktop or Support] or

    equivalent experience.

     

    Preferred

    Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator (MCSE) or

    Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) [Enterprise or Server Administrator].

    Special Requirements

    Scheduled Days / Hours: M-F 40 hours per week

     

    Bachelor of Science Degree required, or 8 years experience.

     

    4-6 years experience in IT desktop support/engineering roles.

     

    Expert knowledge of supporting Windows Client Platform (Windows XP, Vista, 7).

     

    Technical knowledge of software packaging technologies: Wise Studio, SMS Installer, MSI, Admin Studio etc.

     

    Technical knowledge of scripting technologies: VB Script, PowerShell, Perl etc.

     

    Technical knowledge of imaging technologies: Ghost, Sysprep, Image X, etc.

     

    Ability to act as a technical lead for Desktop Support Technicians.

     

    Ability to act as a liaison between Desktop, Server, Security and Applications team.

     

    Experience with SMS or SCCM strongly preferred.

     

    Experience with SCOM a plus.

     

    Strong Documentation Skills.
