Must know medical terminology in both English and Native language.
Must be able to participate in all manners of conversations with ease and only rarely make grammatical mistakes; speaking in a way an educated native speaker of the language could.
Manage translations and/or interpretations between patients, healthcare professionals, relatives and guests.
Confirm appointments prior to going to assignment.
Maintain an accurate schedule at all times with flexibility to meet the needs of the patient and the department.
Adhere to all standards, policy and procedures as all Patient Reps/Liaisons, especially appropriate request of PTO requests insuring that any previous appointments will be covered.
Educate colleagues and staff on use of VRI, CyraCom and Cultural Diversity.
Attend CLN classes and courses and needed and/or requested.
Will be professional and maintain privacy at all times.
Will identify special communication and cultural needs of customers and takes appropriate action to meet those needs, if necessary will report them immediately to the Linguistic Coordinator and or Department Director.
Cross training with Patient Reps/Liaisons to assist on off times
Insure that annual Physical is completed within the required time frame annually.
Demonstrates ability to follow verbal and written instructions in both English and the Native language.
Must respond to STAT requests as needed.
Completes tasks assigned by Linguistic Coordinator, Supervisor, and/or Director.
Scheduled Days / Hours: 8:30-5
High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
5 years of healthcare setting interpreting/translating, preferred.
Certification strongly preferred
Proficient in English & other native language, Medical Terminology, Must write, read, speak, interpret and translate in both languages. Must have knowledge of Cultural Diversity.
