Operate telephone business systems equipment or switchboards to relay incoming,
outgoing, and interoffice calls to or from internal and external customers in a 24/7
environment.
May supply information to callers and record messages.
Operate communication systems, such as telephone, switchboard, intercom, two-way radio,
or public address.
Manage multiple incoming phone lines; greet callers, answers routine questions, forwards
calls and takes messages.
Work the hospital’s paging system and handle general clerical tasks.
Relay and route written and verbal messages.
2 years experience as a switchboard or call center operator, and/or answering service experience in a hospital, large physician office, or related customer service field.
Experience in TeleDirectory or similar telephone console system preferred.
HS diploma or equivalent required
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills required.
Must possess a strong social orientation, ability to multi-task and handle high-stress environment. Must be detail-oriented.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred. Computer skills required.
