Overview

The Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) nurse serves to prepare patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic needs in the gastroenterology (GI) endoscopy department and other special testing procedures. The GI endoscopy suites serve both outpatient and inpatient needs located in Camden, Mount Laurel, Willingboro and Moorestown.

The most common gastroenterology procedures are upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, endoscopic ultrasounds (EUS), endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), and many other special testing procedures such as bronchoscopy and electroconvulsive therapy.

All endoscopy units are staffed by surgical schedulers, patient service representatives, nurses, and GI technicians, anesthesiology and GI physicians. The PAT nurse must be familiar with all roles and procedures in the GI Unit.

Epic OpTime is used as our EMR system. You must be able to navigate through Epic and have a great understanding of medical conditions and medications that relate to procedural preparation and patient education.
