Short Description

ADVANCED PRACTICED PROVIDER (APP) - Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant – Part Time - Psychiatry – Outpatient

 

This posting is for an outpatient Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner within the Department of Cooper Behavioral Health.

 

The Psychiatric Advanced Practice Provider will function within the scope of practice as defined by the state and national APP nurse practice act. The APP utilizes the scientific process and national standards of care as a framework for managing patient care. The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the direct care, initiation and follow-up of pediatric patients that matches his/her delineation of privileges and skill set.

 

Patients seen through Cooper Behavioral Health include, but are not limited to, MDD, GAD, Bipolar Disorder, PTSD, Psychotic Disorders, SCZ, ADHD, and Personality Disorders.

 

Brief Summary of Responsibilities:

  1. As licensed independent providers, the Psychiatric APP’s practice autonomously and/or in consultation with a collaborating/supervising physician and other health care professionals to assess, diagnose, treat, and manage patients’ psychiatric illnesses- health problems. In addition to diagnosing and managing psychiatric illnesses, APPs will emphasize health promotion and wellness, as well as disease prevention. 
  2. The APP will perform a comprehensive pediatric patient history with psychiatric emphasis collecting information from appropriate sources (family) to determine a working differential diagnosis and develop an individualized plan of care. Other services include, but are not limited to ordering, performing and interpreting rating scales, genetic tests, diagnostic and laboratory tests.

 

 

Experience Required

Prior experience providing psychiatric clinical services required, including diagnostic evaluations, pharmacotherapy, and psychotherapy.

Education Requirements

Master's Degree in Nursing or Physician Assistant

License/Certification Requirements

NJ-RN/APN License or NJ-PA and BLS certification

Scheduled Days / Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM; Part-time
