A Registered Nurse who has completed educational preparation in Wound Ostomy and
Continence Nursing and demonstrates professional competence in this specialized nursing
field.
Nursing practice includes care of patients with selected disorders of the gastrointestinal,
genitourinary, and integumentary systems.
In consultation with the clinical nurse and members of the health care team impacts on
nursing care and positive patient outcomes.
Responsibilities include clinical practice, staff education, patient education, and research,
the CWOCN serves as a significant member of the multidisciplinary health care team.
Membership in the national organization, WOCN, BSN preferred.
A minimum of 3 years acute care nursing experience, 2 years of which is within the area of specialty practice.
Graduate of an accredited Wound Ostomy Continence Program.
Board certified in Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing specialty.
Current NJ-RN License (Registered Nurse)
Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills.
