Short Description

Responsible for the overall floor maintenance of hard surface and carpet (stripping, waxing, buffing, shampooing, extraction & bonneting) in areas that include offices, patient rooms, classrooms, corridors, lobbies, entrances, stairwells and other public areas (i.e. cafeterias, etc.). In addition, a Floor Technician may also perform the following as needed: Dusting surfaces, floors, emptying waste baskets removes waste and relines basket. Damp wiping cleans all furniture. Cleaning and polishing metal and porcelain fixtures in bathroom. Mopping and sanitizing floors of rooms and offices. Spot cleaning walls and windows. Replenishing room supplies, performs discharge cleaning as assigned. Vacuuming carpets, spot cleans as needed. Perform heavier cleaning functions in assigned areas. Project work shall empty trash, linen, and garbage containers. Notifies supervisor concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, and ventilating equipment. Floor techs should be able to complete their work with minimal supervision. Floor techs must be able to follow project schedules and complete projects in a timely manner. Floor techs must be able to work with customers to minimize disruption to the clinical area while completing project work. Willingness to perform routine, repetitive tasks on a continual basis, accepts supervision from a number of persons, and performs tasks despite frequent interruptions. 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Sign in and out for your pager/phone (if applicable)

Follow pager/phone protocols

Follow Personal Protective Equipment procedures

Transporting of waste from dirty core

Cycle cleaning ceilings and walls

Measuring and mixing cleaning chemicals

Assists in cleaning emergency spills

Reports customer suggestions/complaints to supervisor

Cleans and sanitizes assigned work area

Attends mandatory hospital and department scheduled meetings/in-services.

Adheres to specific hospital and department policies.

May be assigned to other duties as needed

Experience Required

1 – 2 years experience in floor care preferred.

Special Requirements

Candidates must have the ability to maintain and operate special floor care equipment including but not limited to the following: Side by Side Orbital Machine, Carpet Extractor, Floor Burnisher, and Auto Scrubber. Ability to communicate effectively and perform tasks with due consideration for patients, staff, visitors in the vicinity.
