1. Work strategically with the provider and nursing staff and system leaders to help develop quality and patient safety strategic plans- and the training/education essential to support those plans (i.e. High Reliability, Just Culture).
2. In collaboration with clinical staff, risk, security, and providers, participate in the development, monitoring, reporting, and improvement of quality & patient safety activities related to the nursing care and safety of staff and behavioral health patients including individuals with disabilities.
3. Partner with risk management in collecting and tracking system wide data including safety and security issues, handles highly sensitive and confidential information involving staff, ensures all required internal and external reporting occur.
4. Follows and Champions policy / procedures- to address care of the behavioral health patient and staff support
5. Serve as a leader/mentor by improving standards of practice via direct input into clinical policies, procedures, standard operating procedures, and standards of practice and raise professional and safety.
6. Integrates with inpatient case management (Transitional Navigation) to plan care and support the patient throughout the continuum of care including behavioral plans, contracts, individualized treatment plans from nursing/behavioral perspective.
7. Present planed and in situ nursing rounds on complex patient situations and mentor clinical RN staff to be present and to actively participate in nursing rounds and multidisciplinary rounds. Collaborate with Clinical Director, Medical Director, and Educator to enhance the knowledge base of nurses and the medical team.
8. Serve as consultant to all disciplines and departments, area of expertise, and patient population and participate on relevant committees and task forces as a clinical expert.
9. Advocate for best practices through the improvement of patient outcomes by advocating for individuals as well as populations within sphere of influence and area of expertise
1 year of psych nursing experience.
Experience with behavioral health and individuals with intellectual disabilities preferred
Graduate from an NLN accredited school of nursing.
BSN required, MSN preferred
