Overview

Cooper’s Neuroscience Unit is a 16 bed ICU paired with a state-of-the-art Neuro Interventional Suite, that together form an integral part of Cooper Comprehensive Stroke Center. Our nurses provide expert neurological care in both settings to ensure seamless continuity of care for our patients across a wide range of neurological diagnoses. With the most advanced technology and providers, Cooper expands capabilities to care for neurological patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The healthcare professionals take tremendous pride in teamwork and interdisciplinary collaboration. In addition, we provide outreach to bring stroke and neurological education to improve community health.

Short Description

The purpose of this role is to give current nursing students (traditionally between junior and senior semesters) the opportunity for real world acute care hospital experience focusing on patient care, service and excellence and assisting the Registered Nurse with high quality outcomes.

  • Administers Nursing care under the direction of the Professional Registered Nurse
  • Acclimates to the Acute Care Nursing setting
  • Participates in nursing activities previously learned/demonstrated as part of the nursing school curriculum
  • Learn the role of professional nursing and the collaboration and integration of technology and the interprofessional team.

Experience Required

  • Undergraduate Students pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (must be entering their Senior year) and completed one full clinical rotation in acute care setting
  • Minimum cumulative GPA 3.0

License/Certification Requirements

  • American Heart Association BLS

Special Requirements

  • One Letter of Recommendation (Faculty or Professional) required; two preferred
  • Ability to work 36 hours per week with no planned time-off
