Short Description

The primary role is to contribute in the detection, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of patients with disorders of the visual system and/or eye motility. The Orthoptists work independently within their scope of practice and collaborates with other members of the health care team that may include but is not limited to physicians, learners, technicians, technologists and administrative staff. With the addition of a new neuro-ophthalmologist to the Cooper Neurology team in August 2021, and Orthoptist will be essential to the support and evaluation of their patient population.

Experience Required

3-5 years preferred

Education Requirements

Bachelors required, Masters preferred in Orthoptics

License/Certification Requirements

Certified Orthoptist
Graduate from an accredited Orthoptic Program

Completion of Orthoptics Fellowship training preferred

Special Requirements

Communication – Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and coworkers
Experience with ophthalmic equipment and technologies
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
