Overview

The hospital's IV team is a specialized unit composed of highly trained and skilled nurses and healthcare professionals dedicated to intravenous (IV) therapy. This team is essential for ensuring that patients receive the most appropriate and expertly managed IV care.

 

They provide 24-hour coverage, ensuring that IV services are always available, day, or night, to meet the needs of patients throughout the hospital. Key services provided by the IV team include: peripheral IV insertions, PICC line insertions and ultra-sound guided IV insertions.

 

The IV team's role is pivotal in-patient care across various departments of the hospital. Their specialized skills contribute significantly to the efficiency and safety of treatment protocols, particularly in critical care settings where timely IV access can be lifesaving. Their dedication to patient comfort and their specialized skill set makes them an invaluable part of the hospital’s healthcare provision.

Short Description

  • Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), assists with patients’ activities of daily living and plan of care.
  • Communicates with and supports healthcare team, patients and/or patient’s family or significant other(s).
  • Maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics.

Experience Required

1 year or more patient care experience in a similar role preferred.

Education Requirements

  • Completed at least one fundamental nursing course in an accredited RN Program
  • Successful completion of an unlicensed health care provider/ technician program
  • High school diploma/GED

License/Certification Requirements

AHA Basic Life Support certification.

Special Requirements

 

Must successfully complete EKG and Phlebotomy training during orientation.
