Short Description

The Sterile Processing Supervisor ensures the efficient and safe sterilization, decontamination, and distribution of medical instruments and supplies. This role is crucial for maintaining high standards of patient care and infection control, directly supporting the hospital's commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery.

  • Demonstrate strong communication and coordination abilities to supervise team of SPD Technicians

  • Implementation of hospital and department policies

  • Conduct regular audits and quality control checks to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions

  • Lead emergency preparedness efforts within the department

Experience Required

  • 3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role within a sterile processing department is preferred
  • Knowledge of sterilization processes and healthcare regulations
  • Attention to detail, must meet or exceed requirements in regards to quality control

Education Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivilent required; Associate's degree preferred

License/Certification Requirements

  • CRCST, Certified Registered Central Service Technician required
  • CHL, Certified Healthcare Leader required within first six months of employment
  • CIS, Certified Instrument Specialist preferred

Special Requirements

  • Must complete 12 hours of continuing education credits related to sterile processing every two years to maintain certification
