Short Description

A nonexempt position responsible for the nursing care under the supervision of physicians, providers and/or registered nurse(s). May be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas including physical assessments, medication administration, promotion of wellness through patient education and teaching, care of the patient environment and organizational tasks. Maintains working knowledge of regulatory standards and is accountable to sustain these standards in daily operations. Initiates and implements patient teaching plans. Clinical direction, oversight and competency review is provided by medical providers and ambulatory professional development team in coordination with office management.

Experience Required

The MFM nurse is to provide specialized care for pregnant patients experiencing high-risk pregnancies.  This role will work in collaboration with MFM physicians to ensure the best possible outcomes for the patient through expert clinical support, education, and coordination of care.

 

Provide high-level administrative support to all Physicians and Advanced Practice Providers (APPs) within assigned divisions. Responsibilities include managing calendars, coordinating schedule changes, booking conference travel, organizing on-call assignments, submitting reimbursements, supporting presentations and special projects, maintaining provider files, processing legal and licensure requests, and managing bump lists for appointments under 30 days.
PTO Tracking and Management: Monitor and submit Paid Time Off (PTO) requests for all providers within the assigned divisions. Follow up to ensure accuracy, alignment with scheduling needs, and timely approval.
Serve as the primary point of contact for key internal and external partners, including the PAC, Ambulatory Call Center, ambulatory leadership and staff, Institute leadership, Patient Relations, and special programs such as Hero Care and Operation Allies. Facilitate clear, timely, and effective communication across all stakeholders.
Meeting Coordination and Communication: Attend and document minutes for division- and department-level meetings. Ensure timely dissemination of meeting summaries, action items, and follow-up communication to all relevant attendees.
Monitor and ensure timely resolution of staff messages and hospital follow-up work queues (WQs) on a daily basis to support continuity of care and patient satisfaction.
Coordinate and schedule meetings with external vendors to address operational needs or outstanding issues. Ensure timely resolution and communicate outcomes with relevant internal stakeholders.
Promptly escalate operational concerns, provider-related issues, patient complaints, and other critical matters to appropriate leadership for timely intervention and resolution.
Medical Staff Documentation and Renewals: Support medical staff credentialing processes by assisting with provider license renewals and maintaining up-to-date documentation to ensure ongoing compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.

 

The Ambulatory MFM nurse is responsible for providing physician support and nursing care to Maternal Fetal Medicine patients. 
• Responsible for performing phlebotomy for genetic testing, assisting with procedures performed by the perinatologist and provides post procedure instructions to the patient and documents all aspects of patient care. 
• Provides education and support for patient/significant other about health/illness and plan of care in conjunction with perinatologist and referring physician. 
• In collaboration with MFM and referring provider, identifies interdisciplinary resources needed to assist in implementing the nursing plan of care.
• Communicates with physicians and insurance companies, assisting in securing prescriptions and supplies for proper care.
• Identifies individual outcomes that are appropriate, culturally appropriate, realistic and attainable.
• Communicates as appropriate, with the patients, OB and MFM providers, office staff, ultrasonographers, genetic counselors, and labor and delivery staff with any changes in a patient's clinical condition that may impact the patient’s disposition.
• Reports test results to patients as appropriate, schedules follow-up as necessary.
• Administers medications in accordance with policy.
• Maintains inventory of necessary supplies in office.
• Assumes responsibility for own professional/educational/personal growth. 
• Must provide exceptional customer service that leads to a positive patient care experience.
• Other duties as assigned

 

OBGYN experience preferred
