Short Description

  • Coordinates with the Director of Maintenance and provides daily supervision to department personnel, ensuring directives are implemented as required.

  • Ensures employee performance meets or exceeds expectations and that periodic performance appraisals are completed on time.

  • Assesses conditions and diagnoses technical and mechanical problems.

  • Leads staff during projects and repairs, including carpentry, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and plumbing work.

  • Oversees maintenance and beautification of the facility and grounds.

  • Manages safety protocols and preventative maintenance programs.

  • Coordinates and oversees activities of outside contractors and tradespeople in the construction, repair, and maintenance of the physical plant and equipment.

  • Inspects work quality to ensure compliance with codes and specifications.

  • Addresses and resolves staff concerns or grievances related to facilities and working conditions promptly.

  • Maintains time and cost records; schedules vacation, relief, and emergency coverage.

  • Leads and manages compliance with regulatory standards (Joint Commission, NJDOH, local authorities, etc.).

  • Participates in a rotating on-call schedule.

  • Performs additional duties as needed to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the campus.

  • Assists in directing other mechanics, facility staff, trades helpers, and skilled trades as necessary.

  • Ensures all work orders are completed in a manner that meets customer expectations.

  • Educates staff on communication and service delivery to improve customer satisfaction and timely completion of work.

  • Monitors the status of equipment and provides recommendations for the capital budget planning process.

Experience Required

7 Years experience hospital or institutional maintenance

 

3 Years Supervisory experience - preferred

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
