Some of the primary duties that GI technicians perform include:
The Mt. Laurel and Willingboro locations are only outpatient units, whereas the Special Test Unit (STU), located on the sixth floor in the main hospital, is an outpatient and inpatient unit. All are run by the hospital largely to serve the diagnostic and therapeutic needs of the Gastroenterology Division.
The most common gastroenterology procedures are upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. We also specialize in more interventional procedures such as ERCP and EUS.
All units are staffed by surgical schedulers, patient service representatives, nurses, and GI technicians. Anesthesiology is present for all GI procedures. Nurses rotate between the admission (Pre op), procedure suites, recovery (PACU), and Pre-Admission (PAT)
GI tech experience and/or patient care experience (medical assistant, patient care technician, etc.)
Must have ability to learn IDX and EPIC applications
High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
BLS, GI certification preferred, not required.
Hours: Varies, anywhere from 6:30 am -7 pm.
Location: Can be floated to Mount Laurel, Willingboro, Camden, Vorhees Surgical Center
Shift Requirements: Varies: 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts
