Short Description

Direct responsibility for the daily operations of assigned department(s); including but not limited to: overseeing daily practice operations, recruitment, retention, adherence to policies and procedures, support ongoing education of staff, ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and responsible for fiscal responsibility of unit/department.

Overview

Kelemen 8 is a medical-surgical unit that cares for patients with a wide variety of diagnoses, illnesses and disease processes. North and South 8 have telemetry capabilities for our patients. Kelemen 8 has frequent admissions and discharges. 

 

Kelemen 8 can accept a total of 77 patients. The North side houses 37 patients, and the South side houses 36 patients. There are two negative pressure rooms with an anti-room. 

 

There is a pharmacist present on the unit to assist the RNs with medication questions/concerns. Multidisciplinary rounds occur every Monday through Friday. Rounds involve all aspects of the healthcare team, including the patient and family

Experience Required

  • 3- 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with demonstrated leadership abilities. 6-10 years preferred. 
  • Requires strong planning skills and a solid understanding of Patient and Family Centered Care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.

Education Requirements

  • Graduate from an NLN accredited school of nursing. 
  • BSN required.
  • MSN preferred

License/Certification Requirements

  • Current New Jersey license as a Registered Nurse, BLS certification. 
  • National certification preferred within area of specialty for critical care, operating room, endoscopy and trauma. 
  • Certain specialties may require advanced certification (i.e. ACLS, NRP, PALS).
  • Certification within specialty area preferred (CCRN, CMSRN, CNOR, CEN, PCCN, CNML,

    NE-BC…)
