Essential duties and responsibilities: Performs daily health assessments. Blood collections, Injections, peripheral IV-line insertion, endotracheal intubation, sample preparation of swine. Clinical treatments pertaining to laboratory animals. Maintains health, research and surgical record with investigative staff on research projects, operates anesthetic machine, performs swine anesthesia, provides minor surgical assistance as needed, perioperative and post-operative record keeping.
Possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/ university with course work related to biomedical research or four (4) years related experience in lieu of degree.
Must have experience in handling and procedures of laboratory swine and rodents.
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, good attention to detail.
A working knowledge of the USDA regulations is strongly required.
Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds.
Experience in handling and procedures of laboratory swine and rodents.
Baccalaureate degree or four (4) years related experience in lieu of degree.
Veterinary technician (CVT) and AALAS certifications at the Animal Technician (LAT) level is preffered.
