The recovery specialist possesses the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to competently provide non-clinical assistance and recovery supports while maintain follow-up with participants. The recovery specialist will work with individuals to support and strengthen their capacity to engage in their personal recovery.
Educating individual on how to appropriately navigate treatment, social service and recovery support systems;
Being a positive role model to individuals and their families by sharing experiential knowledge, hope, and skills;
Reinforcing, guiding, and assuring individuals and their families that recovery is possible, and is built on multiple strengths, coping abilities, and resources of each individual;
Collaboration with individuals to develop a Recovery Plan
Attends Staffing meeting each week and be actively involved in the case review and discussion process.
Maintains regular charting and notes in the electronic medical records system on patient meetings and case management efforts (including documenting any emails sent and any phone calls made for the client for appointments or updates)
Records information on the Intake/Individual’s Recovery Plans and discharges plans.
Participate in ongoing training, supervision meetings, and emergency treatment.
They must be computer literate, proficient in MS Office including Word, Outlook and Excel.
Strong communication skills in the form of both written and verbal.
HS diploma or GED required.
Certified Peer Recovery Specialist Certification, required within 6 months of
employment
Mental Health First Aid certification, required within 6 months of employment
