Short Description

Provides comprehensive surgical scheduling and billing support for the ambulatory surgery centers by coordinating patient procedures, maintaining accurate registration and insurance information, facilitating communication between patients and clinical staff, and delivering exceptional customer service. This role ensures efficient access to care, supports a positive patient experience, and contributes to the organization's financial integrity through timely surgical scheduling and log posting.

  • Coordinate and manage ambulatory surgical scheduling, including scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling procedures while ensuring timely patient access to care.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between patients, providers, and clinical staff to communicate scheduling needs, procedural information, test results, and appointment updates.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by answering incoming calls, managing voicemail requests, responding to patient inquiries, and resolving scheduling concerns in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of patient registration, insurance verification, and healthcare coverage information to support efficient care delivery and reimbursement.
  • Review, validate, reconcile, and post surgical logs, charges, case times, and bill-only submissions in EPIC to ensure accurate charge capture, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with clinical, Supply Chain, Revenue Integrity, and other operational teams to resolve documentation discrepancies, support Charge Description Master (CDM) maintenance, and improve billing accuracy.
  • Process and post surgical charges and bill-only submissions in EPIC, ensuring accurate charge capture, timely payment processing, and appropriate revenue recognition.
  • Provide backup support for Patient Service Representative functions, including patient registration, insurance verification, and scheduling responsibilities, while maintaining efficiency and professionalism in a fast-paced environment.

Overview

Cooper’s Voorhees and Moorestown Surgery Centers are hospital-run outpatient facilities that follow the same high clinical standards as Cooper’s main surgical facilities in Camden. Both centers provide streamlined, patient-focused care, guiding patients from pre-admission screening and pre-operative preparation through anesthesia, surgery, recovery in PACU, and discharge home the same day. The centers offer a variety of specialties, including general, orthopedic, gastrointestinal, gynecologic, vascular, interventional radiology, and other minimally invasive procedures. Supported by skilled surgical teams and advanced technology, care is designed to reduce pain and complications, promote faster recovery, and help patients return to their normal activities sooner.

Experience Required

  • 2-3 years in medical or office setting. 
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clinical teams, supply chain, revenue integrity and PSR’s
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to clarify documentation issues and resolve discrepancies
  • High level of attention to detail and strong organization skills with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines
  • Ability to work independently while functioning as part of a multidisciplinary team
