A nonexempt position responsible for performing a variety of duties in various ambulatory settings, including primary, multi-specialty, specialty practices. May be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas including assisting providers with patient care, and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services. Maintains working knowledge of regulatory standards and is accountable to sustain these standards in daily operations. Clinical direction, oversight and competency review is provided by medical providers and ambulatory professional development team in coordination with office management.

The trained Surgical technologist, under the direct supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse and/or physician, is assigned as an assistant to specific service areas in the Surgical Suite.

Appointment scheduling to patients PCP within 7 days or discharges. If patient has no PCP, assist with obtaining PCP and schedule appropriate appointment within set guidelines Facilitate patient discharge from 24/7 Emergency Department by coordinating/scheduling follow-up appointments. Works closely with both primary care physicians and physicians in all specialty areas to coordinate patient’s care plan for consultations, procedures, testing, surgeries or other services as ordered by the treating ED provider. Verify insurance coverage and demographic information. Collect and receipt patient payments. Responsible for retaining patients in the Cooper Health System whenever possible by scheduling directly in Centricity Business system, Central Scheduling, or calling physicians’ offices directly. Schedule patients for appointments with community services when appropriate. Ability to work collaboratively with and communicate with multidisciplinary teams on behalf of the patient. Inform patients of billing policies and managed care referral and/or pre-authorization requirements. Assists patients and their families with obtaining referrals from PCP to needed specialist when needed. Provides support and counseling to patients and families as appropriate. Communicates with referring providers as appropriate to address patient and physician needs. Partners with patients, families, the interdisciplinary team and community resources to provide well-coordinated, timely, and exemplary care. Serves as a resource for community resources. Track and report weekly on all scheduled services. Float to other ED Registration work areas, as needed, to assist with patient access to Cooper services. Position will cover all discharged patients on IP units, CDU, Urgent Care Centers, Cooper Camden ED, Salem ED, and other hospital-based care areas as deemed in scope

 HCA Insurance Specialist responsibilities include various activities related to patient intake and financially securing encounters through comprehensive insurance verification.   Facilitates accurate and thorough patient registration and confirm all compliance forms are obtained timely.   Must ensure quality patient registration, point of service collections, positive telephone etiquette and patient satisfaction in support of Cooper University Hospital Mission and Core Values. Must be able to work independently and as a team with an enthusiastic personality.   Insurance Specialist must have strong organizational skills along with the ability to improvise and adapt when faced with unforeseen circumstances that arise throughout each day within a professional medical environment.

The Physician Liaison (PL) role is dedicated to developing and cultivating relationships through face-to-face interaction with Physicians, Advanced Practice Providers and staff.   The PL will be responsible for visiting Cooper employed and independent Primary Care & Specialty Practices to share information on priority programs and services in order to generate new referrals and contribute to market share growth.    The PL develops and implements marketing/sales plans to increase patient volume in CUH services.      Responsible for a geographical territory encompassing specific counties throughout South/Central NJ within a defined territory.  Facilitates relationships with providers/staff by direct communication of CUH Services/Programs to generate new referrals and increase volume into the system.   The PL facilitates relationships with providers/staff by direct communication of CUH Services/Programs to generate new referrals and increase volume into the system.   Ability to present, probe, persuade and actively listen to referral source needs and respond with the right mix of service line and product attributes that produce results.   A key responsibility will be working with physicians in Cooper’s service area to understand needs, troubleshoot problems, communicate new programs and outreach activities and communicate issues back to health system administration.   Input from the PL is valuable relative to local market dynamics & economics.    Responsible for directly contacting regional physicians in their offices and is expected to spend approximately 70% of their time in the field working independently to share information on service lines and programs to generate new referrals and contribute to market share growth.   The PL will coordinate Outreach visits with Cooper Health providers and travel with them to facilitate introductions.   Develops and maintains database of referring physicians relative to demographics, referral trends and details as appropriate.   Maintains communication with CUH Physicians/Administrators to learn of initiatives and relay Barriers to Referrals.   Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values at Cooper.   This person will understand the practice of medicine including referral relationship, payor requirements and other economic and financial influences.   Develop a working knowledge of Cooper’s clinical services, programs and strategic focus.   Knowledge of physicians, their referral patterns and hospital is very helpful.   Knowledge of South Jersey healthcare market is also helpful.

  Assist the Directors, Administrative Managers and Nurse Managers in maintaining appropriate staffing levels as recommended by the patient classification system, and in a cost-effective manner by utilizing Pool, reducing overtime, and eliminating agency usage whenever possible

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), assists with patients’ activities of daily living and plan of care. Communicates with and supports healthcare team, patients and/or patient’s family or significant other(s). Maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics.   1. Supports the activities of daily living to include bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport. Demonstrates standard precautions including the care of patients in isolation and safe patient practice. 2. Performs technical duties as directed by RN, such as phlebotomy, vital signs, point of care testing, EKGs, Foley catheter care specific to population served and documents appropriately. 3. Identifies and communicates changes in patient’s status to RN and responds appropriately. Demonstrates standard precautions including the care of patients in isolation and safe patient practice. 4. Reinforces education of patient and family/responsible party regarding individual care needs and safety issues. 5. Participates in Cooper patient satisfaction initiatives and goals. Participates in the performance improvement activities. Assists in orientation of new hires. 6. Completes annual unit-specific competencies by specified due date. 7. Attends Staff Meetings when available for documents review of staff meeting minutes. 8. Assists in admission, transfers and discharges of patients to and from the unit

Responsible for supporting the ED clinical team in provision of patient care. This includes environmental readiness, assistance with procedures/care, carrying out specific duties, and effective communication. Support departmental initiatives including but not limited to patient throughput and customer service initiatives.

Responsible for registration functions (such as registration, insurance verification, patient safety and compliance, revenue collections, resource referrals, and customer service) in a fast paced, high volume Emergency Department that provides 24/7 service.
