Provides clinical medical physics services for the Department of Radiation Oncology at the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper   Leads medical physics research effort including: developing collaborations with other institutions (e.g., Rowan, UT MD Anderson, et al.) and industry, seeking extramural funding for research efforts and personnel, mentoring and supporting academic growth of staff and resident physicists, graduate student advising, and managing the medical physics research lab. Participate in resident and student education. Support and assist physicians, dosimetrists, therapists, and other colleagues.    Clinical medical physics services must be performed at a high standard and include: 1) ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and best practice recommendations, 2) equipment calibration, quality assurance, and maintenance, 3) treatment plan review and approval, 4) managing equipment and software issues including troubleshooting and engaging required IST, service engineering, and help desk support, 5) implementation of new technology including acceptance, commissioning, process development, and training, 6) continuous evaluation and improvement of departmental processes and capabilities within the purview of medical physics.
