The Registered RN is a professional caregiver who, as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and who supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self.

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), assists with patients’ activities of daily living and plan of care.
Communicates with and supports healthcare team, patients and/or patient’s family or significant other(s).
Maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics.

Provides psychosocial assessments, crisis intervention, resources referrals, to facilitate discharge plans, and/or adjustment to illness, and
complex discharge planning for patients and their families.
Formulates the discharge plan with patient, families and the care team based upon a needs assessment.
Coordinates appropriate referrals to home care agencies, skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers, and community based programs.
Coordinates care authorization process with insurers
Coordinates specific details of patient’s hospitalization with Utilization Management department to ensure appropriate admission status
Patient assessment, mechanical ventilatory support monitoring, non-invasive ventilation support, administration of medical gas delivery systems (i.e.: heliox, nitric, oxygen compressed air, etc...).Humidification and aerosol therapy, airway management, delivery of aerosolized & instilled medications, chest physical therapy, vest therapy, IPV therapy, in-exsuffalator therapy, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, arterial blood gas acquisition & analysis, Transcutaneous pc02 & po2monitoring, pulse oximetry monitoring & trending, ventilatory weaning, peak flow monitoring, assist with bedside tracheostomies, and bronchoscopy. Work within designated center of excellence to coordinate all clinical aspects of the Cooper Neurlogical Institute’s (CNI) practice, working closely with the treatment team of Neurosurgeons and staff.
Demonstrate a comprehensive clinical knowledge of treatment indications, assist with organizing weekly conferences, protocol follow up, education, and clinical care of patient.
Work collaboratively with physicians to provide community education, first responder education, as well as peer education within Cooper University Health Care.
