ADVANCED PRACTICE PROVIDER (APP) - Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner – Orthopedics Camden, NJ   Cooper Bone and Joint Institute is seeking a per diem APP - Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to work in our Camden, NJ location.   This position will offer autonomous orthopedic patient care and the ability to work non-traditional hours.   The Physician Assistant supports the institute by evaluating and treating patients with acute orthopedic or postoperative problems in the office environment to provide access to orthopedic care.

Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), assists with patients’ activities of daily living and plan of care. Communicates with and supports healthcare team, patients and/or patient’s family or significant other(s). Maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics.   1. Essential duties and responsibilities: Performs daily health assessments. Blood collections, Injections, peripheral IV-line insertion, endotracheal intubation, sample preparation of swine. Clinical treatments pertaining to laboratory animals. Maintains health, research and surgical record with investigative staff on research projects, operates anesthetic machine, performs swine anesthesia, provides minor surgical assistance as needed, perioperative and post-operative record keeping. 

The Registered RN is a professional caregiver who, as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and who supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self.   -

  This position has a strong emphasis on customer service to our patients. Must ensure quality patient scheduling, positive telephone etiquette and customer satisfaction in support of the mission of Cooper University Hospital. Serve as the front line contact person for all incoming patients. Greet, register, schedule, collect point of service copays and provide general information to patients and their families using AIDET. Must have the ability to be organized, take independent action and project Cooper’s values to both customer and co-workers. Serves as patient’s non-clinical navigator during discharge coordination.

This job requires the candidate to perform CAT scan procedures following protocols established by the radiologist and operate the CT scanner during IR procedures in the CT department. Maintains the work area by reporting Maintenance issues for equipment, monitors supplies, and deficient. Participates in Clinical activities and adheres to all infection prevention policies, utilizing the appropriate PPE needed.
