Under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), assists with patients’ activities of daily living and plan of care. Communicates with and supports healthcare team, patients and/or patient’s family or significant other(s). Maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics.
Ensure the accurate coding of all encounter types: Outpatient and Professional Fee
This will ensure the capture of the utilization of hospital resources for proper reimbursement, reporting of data, and quality of patient care.
Carries out procedures for department functions, including, but not limited to:
- Washing, inspecting, packaging, and sterilizing instruments/equipment
- Maintaining accurate monitoring records
- Using and interpreting chemical and biological indicators
- Performs appropriate cleaning of all sterilization equipment
- Assisting OR personnel in locating/reprocessing instruments
- Participating in performance improvement activities.
- Follows established policies & procedures.
- Communicates openly with internal customers and supervisors.
- Provides excellent customer service interfacing well with all levels of staff, management, and physicians.

Responsible for the safe, timely and accurate transport of patients, medical equipment and patient-related items to their destinations enabling physicians, nurses, technicians, and therapists to perform their duties in an effective manner.
Ensures positive patient and customer satisfaction, proper utilization of body mechanics, adherence to policies, procedures and standards established by Hospital, Department and Regulatory Agencies.
Acts as a positive role model and team player demonstrating hospital mission and values.

This position is responsible for performing the duties and functions in the diet office
according to the current departmental policies and procedures and the job flows.
Maintains current records of patient diet orders and takes patient calls for room service and
guides them through choices in accordance with their diets.
Customer Service: Solves customer problems, treats customer with dignity and respect.
Acknowledges customer and responds quickly to customer needs.
Process Room Service customer orders, including patient/family initiated orders and those
patients needing assistance.
Take phone calls and fax orders for all food requests.
Coordinate processing of AM and PM nourishment orders and print AM and PM
nourishment labels.
