The Orthopedic Technician supports the direct patient care clinical activity of the orthopedic surgeons and providers in the orthopedic ambulatory practices. The technologist is responsible to coordinate all activities related to casting, bracing, DME, wound care, suture/staple removal, order and maintaining of supplies, inventory, and care of equipment. The trained Surgical technologist, under the direct supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse and/or physician, is assigned as an assistant to specific service areas in the Surgical Suite.

A nonexempt position responsible for the nursing care under the supervision of physicians, providers and/or registered nurse(s). May be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas including physical assessments, medication administration, promotion of wellness through patient education and teaching, care of the patient environment and organizational tasks. Maintains working knowledge of regulatory standards and is accountable to sustain these standards in daily operations. Initiates and implements patient teaching plans. Clinical direction, oversight and competency review is provided by medical providers and ambulatory professional development team in coordination with office management.

 Carries out procedures for department functions, including, but not limited to: •Washing, inspecting, packaging, and sterilizing instruments/equipment •Maintaining accurate monitoring records •Using and interpreting chemical and biological indicators •Performs appropriate cleaning of all sterilization equipment •Assisting OR personnel in locating/reprocessing instruments •Participating in performance improvement activities.  Provide pre-hospital Advanced Life Support (ALS) care in all weather conditions, in cooperation with other EMS providers as a member of the patient care team. Care will be rendered to patients of all ages whom experience any injury or illness, utilizing appropriate equipment and techniques to safely assess, treat, lift, move and transport patients to appropriate medical facilities. Complete all required documentation and other assigned duties which support efficient EMS operations while maintaining a professional attitude.
