The trained Surgical technologist, under the direct supervision of the Registered Professional Nurse and/or physician, is assigned as an assistant to specific service areas in the Surgical Suite.
The Registered RN is a professional care-giver who, as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team, assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and who supervises and provides care to these patients utilizing the nursing process including the therapeutic use of self.

Patient assessment, mechanical ventilatory support monitoring, non-invasive ventilation support, administration of medical gas delivery systems (i.e.: heliox, nitric, oxygen, compressed air, etc...)
Humidification and aerosol therapy, airway management, delivery of aerosolized & instilled medications, chest physical therapy, vest therapy, IPV therapy, in-exsuffalator therapy,
- Assists the Clinical team in providing indirect patient care, plus has non patient care responsibilities to include but not limited to turning over rooms, pharmacy/specimen pickup or delivery, setting up equipment for cases and patient transporting.
- Contributes to quality patient care by serving as a significant member of the health care team.
